When to use sway bar?

Hi,

Where is a swaybar good for, and can I use it on a dirt/carpet track?
It's outdoor so sometime is't slipppery and sometime is't medium grip.
So what do you guys think?

4WD and 2WD: A rear sway bar makes the grip more consistent, with less grip.

2WD: I never use a sway bar in my B4.1 on dirt (clay, ...).
On carpet I only use it, when my car is to slow in fast turns and shicanes. Its also good when your rear suddently gripp off!

4WD: I got a Bmax, buts its similiar in setup like AE. Indoor in 99% I use a sway bar front and rear. Less traction rolls, also more consistent with less grip. Improove stability in fast turns and shicanes.
On dirt, I only use one in rear. More cornerspeed, easier out turns, harder over bumps/jumps!

My outdoor experience with the B44 is limited...
but
I run the same set-up indoors as outdoors except I run rollbars outdoors (outdoors astro, indoors carpet and polished floor)

edit: the setup is Paul Bradby's outdoor RHR one I think. Works well for me

I found on low grip using the rear ARB gave me a lot more low speed steering

on damp astro on the weekend I started with it on and after removing it found the car would turn in better, although my front grip out of the corners felt a bit of the low side, but as long as you were sensible it wasn't too bad.

the only time I've used the front arb is on very high grip.

all experiences with 4wd cars
