could this be done with rattlers?

My first bodies are on the way and I have now been drawing/colouring to see what I would like.

This is what I have come up with and wonder would it be doable to a ok finish level with spray cans?

What tips could those that can ( ha ha pun) and have experience with painting give me?

Im thinking liquid fasmask and do grey red then white

firstly i'd recommend rcs liquid mask ( )

Presuming the grey is streaked, although it looks like it's just the streaks from the markers you used.. the only slightly tricky thing i could see when using cans would be the streaks in the grey. couple thoughts(although i have never used cans so don't know if it is possible or would work) would be to attatch a straw to the can to get a finer line or use a shield made of card or scrap lexan or similar to spray against to get lines. closer you hold the sheild to the surface the tighter the lines would be. another idea would be to take a sheet of card and cut a very thin long rectangle in it to spray through. strips of tape or wire could work to a certain degree.
none (i don't think) would produce the type of streak effect you would get from an airbrush.

go have a play/experiment on some paper and see what you can come up with.

thanks but its not ment to be streaked just solid grey, the streakyness was caused by the marker I used

I am considering getting a cheap airbrush and either a can of compressed air or attachit to my compressor I have

even for a first timer do you think that an airbrush would do a better job?

if it's just straight red/white/grey then there is no need for an airbrush.

This was my first (and last) shell that I did.
Liquid masked then painted with Tamiya rattle cans.

OneKiwi 19-02-2011 02:27 PM

theres a difference with quality paints i think.
The previous one started cracking and coming off so I redid it for a 3rd time with I hope quality paints
Wings still drying so there will be a sticker or 2 there later on
