BRCA Track Size

Hi all,

Just found this thread http://www.oople.com/forums/archive/...p/t-10586.html

I know its old and might not be valid but are the sizes still correct?. 2.4m and 3m wide track and 130m in length?.

130m is pretty long!!!

3m is what is recommend, which is what we'll be adjusting too as there will be changes at TORCH.

We just wanted to get the track back open to enable people to race etc. which also enabled us to raise funds for further work.

Come and help TORCH widen ;)

Name your weekday and I'll come down

What about length though? 130m is mahooosive!!??

We measured out and modelled some 130m long, 3m wide layouts for Bury, but they come up huge!
Not many tracks are the full 3m wide all the way round which it what it says they should be.

So no one makes a track to the legal BRCA recommendations then?

The ONLY have to be 3m for Nationals.

Regional events are minimum of 2.4m, national events are 3mtrs

Our track in silverstone i think comes in about 180mtrs (from memory)

So the 130m is TOTAL track length, not length of straight?

Yes, but if you are building a new track it would be daft not to make it national standard!

However you are right, and in fact as most modern tracks are reconfigurable, it need only be 3m on the 'national' track, but can have 'Club' and 'Regional' layouts too of different widths.

We wanted a wallride section until we realised how high a 3m wide wallride had to be!
