Humpback batteries for Old Wild Willy?

Hello,

In a recent loft search I also found an old Tamiya Wild Willy that my Dad and I built and enjoyed in the 80's

Is it possible to buy the odd humpback batteries it has, as the battery holder will not take standard flat battery packs?

Is there any value in a mark one Wild Willy by the way??

A couple of manufacturers do hump pack batteries that will fit, but in shrinkwrap. The original hard cased hump-packs are long since discontinued, although I think some people have found a way of opening it up and replacing the cells inside.

There is certainly value in the car.

If I was to sell the original Tamiya Wild Willy where would be the best place to do it?

Ebay or on a forum like this?

Ebay, but prices aren't as strong as they were last year. Really depends on its condition.

Edit - if you can post up some pictures I can tell you whether it is a Short-Wheel Base version or Long-Wheel Base version of the Mk1 Wild Willy. The SWB is more desirable as Tamiya tweaked the design to make it more stable, which is referred to as the LWB version. There tends to be less SWB versions for sale and as they are the very first production run (not sure how many years they were made/kits were sold, but we're talking 1,000's rather than just a few) they sell for more than a LWB version. Most people won't even notice the differences between the two versions, just anal people like me LOL.
