Cougar Diff backing out?
 

Anyone having a problem with the Diff backing out. My kit is being built but the Hobby Shop owner was having a problem with his. He was winning the A main with his new cougar 2010 spec and the diff backed out:thumbdown: Anyone have a fix?

The screw head goes on the pinion side of the car, using thread lock. Make sure you don't get molly grease on the theads when installing the thrust bearing. Tighten the locking set screw on the oposite side using thread lock again.

no need for thread lock just make sure grub screw is nice and tight, thats what it is there for
if the diff is in need of a rebuild worn or not built properly it will back its self of,just follow manual to the t :thumbsup:

Mine has not moved a bit, i did however lock tight the grub screw.

Just make sure you open up the circlip a bit (nice tight fit) and fitted the circlip the right way round,and then go by the book,thats all i did to mine and it has been working perfectly

hi , no need of treadlock , set screw , rigt or left side no problem , but some of the male outdrive treat are poorely machined. i have one new like that , i have has directly a bad feeling with it . the countersunk screw can't be enough stronger screwed without to unscrew the set screw.
problem solved with a new male outdrive.
( i mentionned i have 3 cougar sv and have rebuild diff a lot of time without problems)

At least someone is listening, all year racing with the cougar and the dif has never com loose.

i did break a servo after two nites! :( going to try the tamiya saver mod, or i may try the Mi4 servo saver..

Oh did you! Chris and I were hoping to not add a servo saver. I guess we should.

or get a good servo, one with all metal gears
