...oddly enough it features stand-up rear shocks!? is this the future?

Good Question!

They look like Losi rear shocks as well, of which i have plenty and was about to sell....

May be keeping them for a bit now!

The sticker says X11.5 :D

good one cooper, didn`t even notice the stickers, being too stunned by the shocks.

I meant to get photos of this car but totally forgot. I had a look over it - really interesting - they said it was built to address the lack of rear traction the car can exhibit on some tracks, and it really wasn't made for the super high-grip track at the PetitRC race, so I don't think they had tested it much on that surface.

Do you have any more details on what was different on the x11.5?

Interesting. Surely this goes against everything 'pred'?? Did it seem to perform alright??

maybe it does, but the guys are just trying to address a few areas of complaint about the car to make it good on all surfaces, all upgradable, all reversable, which continue's the uniqueness of this car, to have a choice.

Interesting but it doesnt surprise me. A few of the Aussie guys here who were bigs fans of the earlier Preds ran upright rear shocks years ago as it apparently made the car work much better on our slippery tracks.

I've only ever driven a standard car so cant comment myself about how effective it was but a few of them did think it was pretty damn good :D

Hi Guys
Is there also a mod to the front top suspension mounts , it looks like from the picture that it has 3 holes to mount the top wishbones ?
I also think the rear shocks mean it aint really a predator , what was unique about the car was the suspension if that is taken away is it not just another shaft driven car ?
I am long time fan of the car . Still have an international and run it now and again and would hate to see it change to the point where its just another shaft driven car !

But you cant stop progress and if it sees the car in the A'S mor often then why not . But I would hat to see it totally change.

the car also has adjustable roll centre's, hence the extra holes....

That's two different cars right? Of which one has a new shell also?

Rebelrc 25-01-2011 11:04 AM

Both pics are the same car!
And the same old x11 shell!
But you would be forgiven in thinking that it was new cause it looks very different and cool with the wing on these prototypes mounted further forwards ( over the rear gearbox rather than behind it )
And yes it has two more ( 3 in total ) front roll centre adjustments.
They have been running like this for a while now and only just been spotted!
:)

rear shock tower

when i used a rear tower on my x10, i found it went through corners better at high speed, any 0ne have news on the 2wd thats being developed?

pitwizard 25-01-2011 10:04 PM

:o:o:o:o Just seen this. Shocked me but looks cool.

AntH 27-01-2011 07:03 PM

Trying to worrk out if this gives less rising rate. Think so. Anyway, that's what it needs. Some rear bellcranks need designing, with some decent analysis.

ads0021 27-01-2011 10:30 PM

I dont want to give away too much before some more testing has been done but I will say that the new shock position was a result of a geometry change not the origonal goal.

Robocop 29-01-2011 11:49 PM

The last touring car from ttech had upright rear shocks made the car handle better
