Getting my radio painted.....

Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction for something I'd like doing!

For years now I've wanted to get my 4PK painted in White professionally and then I'll get some logo's e.t.c printed as transfers and get my radio looking a bit bling bling! I sort of forgot about it for a while as I didn't know where to look for such a service....

But, after seeing a photo of Rheinards White Sanwa radio, it's really made me want to get it done again!

So, the question! Does anyone know of any companies that could take the plastics of my radio and coat them in a White paint? I know this is something I could probably do myself but I'd rather get it done properly.

I would imagine that any bodyshop painter could do that for you if you removed the plastics for them?

An old friend of mine used to spray in a bodyshop and did a sideline in spraying mobile phone fascias back in the day when mobile phones were the size of small children.

Its just plastic paint and lacquer at the end of the day :)

Course, it's simple stuff I know but it's more to see if anyone has had it done before!

Stu said someone was talking about it down at the Petit and mentioned a place but he doesn't remember who or where haha!

Cheers anyway, I know someone who may be able to help.

Cooky, will be able to spray it at the booth, it's just taking all the parts off that will be the pain.

guys this is possible and can be done with ease but the thing you all need to think about is A stripping down your transmitter and sending it in the post to one of us painters ,, a transmitter case is just the same as painting a mardave abs shell in theory and then firnally liquering at the end to protect the paint ,, bear in mind that all stickers can be removed ,, but logos like on the 3vc/3vcs handset will just not be there,, unless they are added after ,, a paint shop would be charging labour and paint too so you ll probably be looking at £100 ,minimum for something like this that will last and look good ,,,,,,thats if you want it stripped down and painted by some one might be less if you strip your handset down i suppose but ive stripped many a handset down in the past and its not an easy job

hence why decal designs did tranny transfers too

i ve got an old steering wheel handset here that i can have a go on so will post it up when its done cheers

can i suggest something blitz?
i used to paint cars for a living and on the bumpers we used red scotchbrite to give a key and then some plastic aerosol primer called plast-x. Very easy to use and quick drying and paint sticks WELL!!

DCM 18-01-2011 11:04 PM

after scotchbriting, did you have to use a cleaner on the surface?

GRIFF55 18-01-2011 11:15 PM

panel wipe/de-greaser and dry with clean cloth, then tack rag and spray plast x.
tempted to rip my tranny apart now:lol:

I did it to my spektrum dx3.0 once.

came out well but I wouldn't do it to my sanwa :D, however it does looks pretty cool.
