Is the Schumacher Cat sx2 the only competitive 4wd that takes stick packs rather than saddle packs?

Just looked at that x11. Doesn't seem to be a very common car and seems fairly old compared to the cat. More expensive too. I'm only a beginner :)

Same suspension as their TRF cars but with plastic chassis to keep the price down. You might not win a national with it but it's more than enough for club racing.

That looks like a good option. I'm only wanting it for club racing and maybe a regional or two later on in the year.

If the Durga looks good look at the Tamiya DB01-R :thumbsup:

Yeah, but to make a Durga competitive at club level, you'll need to spend about the difference in price between that and the DB01R.

I bought a Durga, then a few months later the DB01R came out and I was gutted :|. I have spend well over the cost of a DB01R, and my Durga still isn't quite up to R spec.

TBH, if you have stick packs and want a race 4wd, the cheapest option is probably the Ansmann X4-Pro and a set of saddles. Its that much cheaper than any competitive stick pack chassis you'd have enough left over for some cells.

I already have several stick packs. I want to avoid buying saddle packs but want a 4wd car to race. I also have all the electrics, I just need a kit.

I the Ansmann Blizzard takes stick packs. Very similar to the X4-Pro but cheaper. :thumbsup:

Quality seems a bit dubious. I think it would be better for me to buy a quality kit to use. The tamiya or schumacher seem to be the best options.

Why do you want to run stick pack cells? There might be a reason all the top line kit's use saddle packs ;)

The reason I want to run stick packs is to keep costs down. My truck takes stick packs, 2wd car takes sticks so need a 4wd that takes sticks. I don't want to fork out for saddle packs as well just yet. I'm just a poor club racer :)

Are you saying the cat and tamiya cars are not top line kits?

As for Tamiya, top of the line is TRF511 / TRF502, both use saddle packs.

Kyosho Lazer ZX-5 SP takes stick packs. But it is an old model compared to the FS/FS2 (both of which use saddles)

You can fit saddles in stick cars. And the X4-Pro is the price of a set of saddles cheaper than a Cat or a DB01R, so what I was suggesting is you get that, and the saddles and still save money. There is no point in not buying saddles if it costs more to avoid them!

Just get a used Cat SX - Job done!
