Tamiya availability?

I'm looking at getting a 201 and 502 but they don't seem to be readily available in the UK. Is this a common problem and is it hard to get hold of spares?

I'm returning to the RC scene after a lot of years away and always liked Tamiya build quality. I want to get same make 2wd and 4wd. If the Tamiyas are hard to get hold of I may look at Schumacher and Associated.

Fusionhobbies.com sell the TRF201 and TRF502X,

though it'll be a lot cheaper to buy from overseas (have a look on Ebay) or maybe another Oople member.

:)

Thanks for those. May reconsider because of those prices, I'm not that good!

Could be the basic cats for me to start with. Shame Tamiya don't do "starter" versions. Maybe the Durga?

Unfortunately the Tamiya Importer for the UK is 'The Hobby Co.' and they don't support the TRF range of kits as the UK market is not big enough for them.

I and most of my friends import our kits and spares from Hong Kong, Stella Models, RC-Mushroom, Dinball, E-Tamiya etc.

All you have to do is allow around 2 weeks delivery

Ordering from Hong Kong also saves you about 20%.

I can normally get my kit's and the hop-ups you need for the same cost of a UK kit.

Although this is only my experience

And i've not been hit by UK customs when i've ordered from these suppliers.

Try PBM racing in notts mate. He's got both in stock and very good prices too. I got my 502 from there. Talk to Andy. He'll look after you.

Even the prices from Hong Kong are making me rethink. I may just go for a cheaper option this year.

For the best deal on a 4WD buggy from Tamiya i can highly recommend the DB01R. Many threads are here where the DB01R is mentioned it is a very good club level racer that has all Hop Ups already installed for a very nice.
Check out this shop. They have the DB01R (84100) as well as the TRF201 and TRF502X in stock, thec ship to the UK and speak English and from what i´ve heard a package only takes about 4 days to be in the UK.
