Just had a go of my GT4, havent played it in ages. Couldnt find Le Sarthe, probably because I've only completed like 1%, video games bore me tbh

josh_smaxx 29-10-2007 10:43 PM

Ye, i cant do more than like 5 laps without getting bored, passes an hour or two anyhow.

that makes your lap time roughly 24minutes then? :eh?: :D

telboy 30-10-2007 01:05 AM

I've just had a quick blast.

Le sarthe ( le mans )
Bmw m3 (bog standard in arcade mode) - 4m 23.390
Audi R8 (standard...as if it needs modifying?) - 3m11.419

Nurbugring
Bmw m3 - 7m 38.594
Audi r8 - 5m 45.932

Best I can do with a 'non-anologue' controller...my anologue one broke years ago and I've never been arsed to get it changed back. :)

josh_smaxx 30-10-2007 07:16 AM

well thats shhown me :( lol

i'll have to pull out all the stops now  whatever they may be.

No no no, i spend the rest of the time buying random cars, found a quick way of making 1mil in 30 mins.

Richard Lowe 30-10-2007 09:18 AM

I havn't played GT4 for a while, I'm close to breaking the 5 minute barrier at the ring though :)

I'll get it fired up again tonight, I think it was 5:02.something in the Sauber Merc group C car ;)

I'll have to post you all some targets :p

Thats a seriously quick time, i cant drive the ring that well, anyone fancy going for a monaco lap record?

Monaco

1)stock BMW M3 -

2)any le mans car -

3)any car at all - 1:16.844 - formula 1

telboy 31-10-2007 10:27 AM

holy poo mr lowe, how the hell do you manage that.

i've just had a blast with the merc and only managed 5m45.461

Then i used the Nissan R89c and got a 5m34.558

Josh, I'll have a play on monaco tonight.;)

I'm gonna have to get myself an anologue controller with the pressure sensetive buttons cos I just can't get the power down smooth enuf.

That time was done with the super soft tires, turbo upgrade giving the car 1200bhp or something silly and NO2 boost aswell :o (It's totally unrealistic, more like playing wipeout than a racing game )

I'm using the Logitech DFP which helps a lot too, the corners are actually not the main problem when you start getting down around 5 minutes, it's keepthing the car on the ground over the damn bumps :o

The Toyota Minolta is the fastest car around the ring, but I havn't found a setup which stops it flying yet! I need to find a way of getting the game to emulate Losi pistons :p

ou need to make sure you do the time in track practice in GT mode, arcade mode gives you a lot more grip, more acceleration and removes all bumps ;)

josh_smaxx 31-10-2007 04:16 PM

Ive got the minolta but cant get it to handle, it just understeers, my record rounf the ring was like 5:20 odd in the lister storm but i have since lost that  would have a blast tonight before i go to practice aka changing gearbox casing but the dentist is calling :(

Richard Lowe 31-10-2007 04:17 PM

How much power did the Lister have? If it's under 1000 and in gt mode thats not a slow time :)

josh_smaxx 31-10-2007 04:21 PM

It was in arcade mode because i didnt and still dont own a lister, so it was stock with supersofts, i spent like hours and hours going through every part of the track to try and memorise it, forgot it all now mind :p

Richard Lowe 31-10-2007 05:00 PM

Bah, arcade mode doesn't count :p

Under 4:45 is possible round the ring in arcade mode :o

If you need money there is one of the races which takes 5 minutes to do if that and you get a £250k Toyota rally thing every time. I think it's one of the 'special conditions' races, the one up the side of a mountain with lots of straights and hairpins.

Whats your fastest time around Chamonix? Last time I was playing I was having run trying to wrestle the escudo round there :D

I do that one all the time for money, easy and quick.

Is chamonix the rally track? i dont do rally, well, cant do rally :D i just play for best times on real circuits now, like try and match F1 times round real tracks, cant do it yet, if anyone can get under 1:15 round monaco then thats faster than this years grand prix. i managed 1:16.

The Tokyo track is quick, i got a 1:14 round there today :D

telboy 31-10-2007 10:24 PM

Holy poo...(again) Mr Lowe, I'm gonna need more practice. :)

That is the main problem I have, getting the things to 1.stay on the ground and 2. stay in a straight line.

I'm having to put mediums on the front of the LM cars cos they're just too darn twitchy.

Chamonix is the really long ice track, what i found that was really strange driving the escudo round there was you had to keep it on-boost as much as possible - which is a bit counter-intuitive on a track with no grip :eh?:

Mediums on the front - I tried that a while since to calm the cars down round the ring, they were a bit better on the bumps but there just wasn't enough steering so they were quite a bit slower. The DFP wheel does make it a lot easier to make very small adjustments, with the setups I use on the LM cars I can't drive them round the ring with the joypad at all.

I've been messing with drifting recently, the engine doesn't seem to like big drift angles though which is a shame :(

telboy 01-11-2007 10:54 AM

yeah, I was messing around with that the othr night, and I noticed that you can't get it right cos the engine seem to bog down and stop you doing it properly.

I may invest in a decent wheel if i get a PS3. never had one, always used the joypad.
