Diff Balls - Which one is best and why?
 

Hi,
i need some expert advice to better understand the differences between Diff balls and which is the best to use in race cars and why. :confused:
I generally use ceramic balls but there are more options and i'd like to understand them better. "The more expansive is best" rule is valid? :)
Tamiya offer:

Tamiya 53072 Standard Diff balls
Tamiya 53379 HCCA
Tamiya 42142 TRF Ceramic
Tamiya 53124 Tungsten-Carbide

Any help and clarification will be welcome!

Ceramics are the best - smoothest, longest lasting - so you already have the best.

The others are old tech, and not necessarily cheaper too.

Also, the TRF201X uses 3/32" balls, which are different from the other Tamiya cars. Thought I'd mention that just in case.

Not much and certainly not worth the weight saving. You should not go cheap or lightweight on diffballs, the balls themselves weight nothing as it is. Use brands that people have experience with, like Ghost RC, RC Lazy, Tamiya (if you can afford them) etc.

I can recommend KANZEN. Use them in all my cars. Pricewise they are really fair if ordered directly by mail.
