I can't see any dodgy dubbing, and it was as cheesy as that back then, we are talking 1970's.

Ashley, whats odd about it, I was having a nostalgic moment last night with a friend of similar age and we were looking for video clips of stuff we used to watch. What is ODD is the fact you think it is strange..... roflol

I remember reading somewhere about how it was a done as a joke and never aired but the original cast did do it. No idea on the source though but it was an interview with one of the cast.
