Buggy tyres for carpet

I'm currently using 'yellow' minipins all-round, and occasionally stagger ribs on the front for racing on carpet.

However, was just wondering of possible alternatives due to the heavy wear rates of 'yellow' minipins.

Has anyone tried 'blue' minipins ? If so, are they any good on carpet ?

Also, how do 'yellow' mini spikes perform on carpet ?

Thanks in advance

At our indoor track which is 90% carpet yellow pins are best, yellow spikes are pretty good too, certainly not miles slower. The blue pins work well on the carpet sections but are useless on the slippy parts which on our track are concrete and mdf washboard section.

I've got some yellow compound mini spikes - so might give them a try next outing (100% carpet)

Thanks for the advice:)

One of the lads at our club runs the spikes no problem, he runs different roll centres to me running pins though. Not sure exactly what his setup is but I'll try and find out for you.

Do you reckon blue mini spikes would be OK for astroturf (1/10 buggy) if I wanted to get more wear out of them?

Guys, we have a new compound tyre that may work well as an alternative the the yellow mini-pin and that is our new White compound in our mini-pin design.

The tyres have not been tested massively yet but we have had some reports back from Portugal which seem to be positive. I wouldn't like to say what the wear rate is yet in comparison to the Schumacher but it may be worth a shot?

Hopefully should get some better feedback soon as the tyres are available.

Thanks

Chris: Is the white compound at already at CML for distribution?

rowley 08-03-2011 01:19 PM

Christer - The tyres will be available through CML. As we have only just started with them I don't think CML have stocks yet but I am sure if you contact them then they will be able to sort something for you.

The White is along the lines of the Yellow compound so I would hope that it works in similar conditions.

Thanks

Here in Portugal the ballistic white compound are already available and some off our top drivers have tested them and they were impressed.

They have a good grip and last longer.

I have tried them last weekend (Carpet)and i must say that from now on thatīs what my 2WD will be wearing.

Cheers
