Never heard of JQProducts but the video is good though

4 year in the making !

It does look a bit old skool though, never heard of JQ, is it supposed to be any good ?

jimmy 18-12-2010 02:03 PM

You'll see how good it is when I kick your ass with it at MMRX sometime Andy

p.s. - When you've built up your 408, can I nick it to take some photos? :)

andys 18-12-2010 03:13 PM

Hi Jimmy.

No worries, i'll pop round with it after Chrimbles, then you can take a piccy before it gets muddy - might even get your pred back to you :0

That JQ buggy does look a bit retro though, interesting, but is it too little too late considering the new cars that are out now ?

showtime 19-12-2010 04:23 PM

yeah i guess being the first (& only at the moment) car on the market where you can adjust the position of the engine backwards & forwards must be too little too late :eh?:

think of it more as a refinement on what we already know works rather than something like the Team Tragic that tried too hard & failed miserably ;)

at fisrt glance things on this car do appear to look similar to other cars but if you get into the detail of them they are quite different :)

Got mine on Thursday, the build was really good, the car is a very good design.

Same with the O'Donnell Buggy, took so many years to come out. Parts on the kit are probably outdated now as buggies have changed over the last 4 years

c0sie 19-12-2010 09:57 PM

You guys need to read the JQ press release parts (theres loads of em).

I dont do RX anymore, but I doff my cap to JQ for all the effort and theory he has put into what he is doing.

People like him are very brave taking on such projects and respect is due.

kinda missing the point a bit :eh?:

4 years ago he designed his first buggy, spent nearly 3 years working with third party companies to try & get it produced which never happened.obviously the design was evolving/being updated during this time & has continued to be updated right up til now!

a year or so ago he took the brave decision of going "all in", drew up a business plan, went to the bank, got some funding, went on a mega worldwide testing/development program & arranged production & international distribution! the first consignments of THE car having reached the shops last week!

you can read all about it in THE story here http://jq-products.com/the-reports/the-story-intro

never before has a maker given you so much information on how & why things were done or certain decisions were made :)
have a good read & tell us if you still think its an out of date design :)

GRIFF55 19-12-2010 10:23 PM

The proto (i think it was anyhow) one i saw of these at slough this year looked an amazing bit of kit, and if the production cars are better then roll on!!!
Nice Job JQ!

might have to see what comes for my birthday:D

showtime 19-12-2010 10:38 PM

yeah it would have been one of the 3 pre production prototype/test cars that were there, plus the unused show car.

the first production kits used were built up just before the Worlds in Pattaya & had their shakedown runs on probably the most brutal track in recent years :)

Bloody hell, as if Rheinard and Wagner weren't enough, he thinks he's Jesus now... To the rest of us it's Christmas, to him it's his birthday!

Cheers for the info, i'll be sure to read the info as it sure looks interesting. I wasn't being negative about the car, just thought it looked a bit odd. Maybe that's good - odd...

Anyway, respect to the guy for getting it made, doesn't mean it will be any good, and the point I questioned, was if it took so long to get it into customers hands, would it be too late and outdated as there's some very nice current kit on the market right now.

jamiekerr14 20-12-2010 12:17 AM

The buggy has been in development.. for a long time granted-BUT.. its always been changed and improved. Its a fresh and new as it get tbh. Yes, it may not be the most futuristic buggy. But all of the ideas and features are really good, im sure there will be 1 or 2 spots that may need working on. But all new buggy have 1 or 2 issues. I got to see JQ and co run it at Proline at Slough.. and man that thing had some grip!.. Even Adam made it looks good :p

Read all the info-and it will make more sense... tbh.. for me the DNX408.. looks almost to technical for it's own good.. but the JQ is a very nice buggy. And I think the fact thats its the 3rd most popular buggy in the Neo 2011 Entry list.. and it wasn't even out when entries opened... That in itself tells you something.. as well as the most brough buggy on A Main...

That good enough? :D

Which it has been for a couple of months already

Lonestar 20-12-2010 03:43 PM

A main is the US distro if I'm not mistaken.

I don't want to be negative about this car, but THEhype is getting on my nerves a bit... "all" JQ did is release a car that was thouroughly tested and that he dumped a lot of (his personal) cash in...

... which is pretty much the way all "solid" contenders in RC do it when they release a new car. R&D, testing, more R&D, more testing, R&D finalization, manufacturing, then distribution...

I don't say his car is better or worst than any other, but I just don't understand what makes it so different than the other "good" buggies on the market today, besides the (smart) guerilla marketing and the fact that the guy is taking a huge personal risk. He sure deserves credit for that, but I don't really see how it can make the car that much better than the other well thought-out designs on the market today...

Paul
