CVMCC GP

Would there be any interest in a GP held in fmt sometime with you guys ?

Probably during the day to maximise runtime sometime later in the year, perhaps easter? The halls not large but polished wood makes for some good drifting action!

Hi Stephen,

If Clougher Valley or any other club wanted to have an "open-day" or other feature event (GP), I would do my best to make sure that the DMCC supported it.

The DMCC will hopefully have it's feature event at the Irish Vintage and Veteran show in Terenure in early July again this year. The event attracted drivers from the north and Cork and was a real high-point to the summer racing season.

If we all support each other, 1/10th electric offroad will flourish in 2011!

Regards,

Will

As a club cvmcc have never held any meetings outside of it's usual club racing, the previous club which was in existence before that would of done festivals and things like that I would quite like to get back to doing events like that. I've suggested it a few times to members of cvmcc but nobody has seemed that overly interested but I may just see about organising one myself and getting everybody to turn up!

Even a normal club racing day dubbed "Easter GP" would be great.
2wd buggies on polished wood should be interesting :)
Do you run touring cars up there?

mole2k 10-12-2010 02:17 PM

There is a few people who run TC's but not really that many, We only run jumps every 3rd night to allow the tc's to run as they don't seem to like jumps so much :D

Nonsense! TCs jump fine - TT01s glide through the air like a bird. My Academy's only problem was snagging on the up-ramps....

Initial information about this event is that it is scheduled for

March 17th (St. Patrick's Day)

Stephen Carson will post details as they are worked out. The track is in a community hall and is half carpet, half wooden flooring. A plan about getting up there (or going in convoy etc) will be made as all the details emerge.

Hi,

That's good news. Could be my first away race

What tires do you tend to run on the wooden floor / carpet combo track?

Kevin

So it's up and running.....personally don't like those obstacles as they tend to make me crash.....;)
Tyres are a choice of Schumacher spike or Mini spike and Yellow compound.
Full Norn Iron hospitality should be expected and maybe those drivers who used to race Buggies before going to TC could scrounge a drive to see if they can still do it....lol

Oh! love the way this is under the "International" events.......

mole2k 26-01-2011 06:09 PM

Anything Schumacher yellow will generally work well. We mostly run a mixture of Yellow full spikes or yellow minispikes. Pins work quite well too although generally they aren't used at the club as the wear rate on polished wood can be scarey!

ian h 26-01-2011 08:20 PM

How much of the track will be carpet?

mole2k 26-01-2011 09:18 PM

should be 50:50 carpet to polished wood!

50:50....? Where are we getting all that....:p

mole2k 26-01-2011 10:31 PM

Stealing it from a house!

Legacy555 27-01-2011 09:35 AM

I haven't raced on wood in years!!! If memory serves, a new yellow minipin with all the spikes cut square and down to about 30% length with a very hard foam or belt is about as good as it gets. Don't think the cars will develop enough roll to exploit a minispike.

Looking forward to it..... will I be racing the CR2 or the TwentyTwo is the question.....:p

mole2k 27-01-2011 05:44 PM

Dust on the floor is the usual killer for the minispike and minipins to generate grip. More of an issue on low number club nights anything over about 15 racers and after practice/round1 the floors nicely gripped up.

After a meeting with the committee we have decided on a few further details about the event. Should hope to have an entry form up on the website in the next couple of days :)

Legacy555 02-02-2011 10:16 AM

Any sign of the entry forms?
Hopefully there will be a half a dozen competitors from the DMCC travelling.
