Set-up for racing

Hi,

I've just got my hands on some slightly better kit compared to my original motor and speedo supplied with my 1/10th buggy. It's an m-troniks viper 12 speedo and an orion 15 turn brushed motor. I was wondering if this would be ok for racing and able to compete with everyone at the racing around worksop area. Im after as much help and advice as possible ranging from spur gears down to suspension set ups as Im fairly new but not so new I dont know what a tyre is  Please feel free to put anything that you may think might help me and anyone else thats reading this thread. Also is a certain brand more reliable than others.

thanks

My car is:

Thunder tiger Pheonix BX 2

Electrical parts:

Team Orion SV2 15 turn motor
M-tronics Sniper RV-12 speedo
Ace RC spectrum reciever
Ace RC S1903 steering controller
3000 Ansmann racing batteries

Car set-up:
Black standard springs
No toe in or out
Standard casters
Dont know damper oil weight
18 pinion
81 spur gear
Rear tyres are similar to mini spikes
front are straight grooved

So almost a basic package buggy but I would really like to be competitive and race in my local clubs in yorkshire and Im on the door step to worksop. :):)

Start by going for the tires that the fast guys are using and then filling your dampers with known fluid, say 35wt front and 30wt rear just to start with. Might be worth trying to get hold of some more well known springs (Associated springs should fit, try blue fronts and silver rears).

Drive that and then pop back telling us what the car is doing and what you want it to do differently and I'm sure people will be able to help you from there!

im not 100% sure, but i think the speedo you have has no brake,it has initial but you cant bring the car to a stand still,i thought this would be ok as you dont really need to,i soon realized you do,

I'll give some tyres, springs and dampers a try and as for how I'd like my car to handle. I'd like it to be tight and fast I'm not to keen on loose out of control cars. But I do want to be able to keep up and maybe win if I'm lucky:) also thanks for the help it is much appreciated
