camera suggestions please
 

hi all as above decided its time i sorted the photos out as alot of people are saying the pictures on the site compared to the shells in the flesh dont do my work justice ,, so first thats all for the feed back and secondly what would people suggest ,, im wanting digital not big buck though was thinking along the lines of nikon coolpix or samsung but would be interested to see what people are using and any recomended ones links please guys thanks for lookin:thumbsup:

Panasonic Lumix cameras are great point and shoots. Great lenses and the quality should be superb with them.

Just a few hints with the photos too, to get the shells looking mint on a photo you want to light them with up with the most natural or White light available. Also keeping your camera on a stand or tripod and letting it shoot with no flash will help.

i use a panasonic lumix tz3, i think they are on tz10 now, mine is a couple of years old now but great pictures and 10 x optical zoom and panasonic use leica lenses which are right up there when it comes to quality, you could pick one up for less that 100 pounds second hand now,

the only difference between the tz3 and tz10 is 5 mega pixel, tz3 is 7 , tz10 is 12.1

I have a Canon S90, which I find takes superb photos - just check out the reviews of it.

We just got the Lumix FS10 which is available for under £100 if you look around. The photos are very good, but as mentioned earlier in the thread, lighting (and backdrop) is really important to get good "product" photography.

Holding the camera up close in your spare room with the flash illuminating will always look terrible!

I see lighting kits on eBay and in art/craft shops that include a seamless backdrop and a couple of spotlights. Or you can rig up your own backdrop (large bit of mounting board) and lights (I have a couple of cheap desk lamps from IKEA that work OK).

I've done a couple of shots for eBay with the Lumix. Just using my IKEA lamps on the kitchen floor (!) with the camera on "Intelligent Auto" and "Flash OFF" has got some pretty decent results. I also use a tripod and the self timer to stop any blurring, although this camera takes a pretty sharp picture anyway.

Canon Ixus 105. Jessops are doing them for £99 at mo.

Or if your ok, with a sort of baby blue cam, Jessops are doing a Canon Ixus 107 at mo for £99 and it come with 2GB Memory Card, case and screen protector (they say £50 worth free)
It's the same camera as the 105, but different no as it's a Jessops Exclusive, lol
