oople logo video

A couple of people asked how I do a simple logo like the one at the top of this screen (the oople logo) so I made a really (really) quick video, from taking my simple logo from illustrator (you can just make it in photoshop too of course) into photoshop and making it all shiney using layers, layer masks, pen tool, selections, soft airbrush.

Jimmy, do you use one of those pen tools with the pad thing (ignore my ignorance, i dont know what there called :)) or just a mouse? just im struggling to be that neat :D

jimmy 27-11-2007 10:48 PM

I used a mouse from 1990 to 1996 or there abouts - so you can do pretty much anything with a mouse, it just takes longer and needs more adjusting of pressure etc..
I use a Wacom tablet though now yes, it's certainly quicker. There are cheap graphics tablets around but the Wacoms are the best by far - but a bit on the pricey side. They even do one with a screen, so you're basically drawing on your picture with a pen - bit expensive tho :o

I have a graphics tablet there well fun i traced a five pound note once.

I might have to look into one if i can find some spare cash (unlikely), i think i might take it a bit more seriously this time (and god its hard with a laptop mouse lol)

Teddy truman 28-11-2007 08:12 AM

Fraps is amazing for game recording but definately needs to be all compressed as when i used it it was working out as 1mb/sec :o

mole2k 28-11-2007 04:27 PM

Fraps records with its own codec which doesnt compress footage overly much. I've been editing a video of a race sim recently which I had to use fraps to record when i've got the footage edited and am doing raw exports you get insane frame sizes. Its basically 30 bitmaps (800x480) a second at just over 1mb each so it works out at: 34mb sec / 2gb min / 9.4 gb for the complete 4min 50sec video!

All that and im only editing in 800x480px, I usually edit stuff in 1280x720 which hikes file sizes up significantly but I couldnt clip from Race 07 at 1280x720 and maintain 30fps at max graphics :(

I'll drop a link of this forum when im finished the video :)
