Designed me a logo

Not wanting to steal the thunder of another similar named thread here, but I've been looking at redoing the shop logo so if I can figur this out here, this is the old or current logo

These are the proposed new style, just differing colours, (the background should be clear as they're for car decals)

Was looking at something bold like the Schumacher / Xray logos so let me know what you think :)

Wow!, lots of views but no replies, I just want a "yes i like that one, I don't like that one" or similar :p

THE SECOND IN PURPLE IS MORE EYE CATCHING

sldmodels 11-11-2010 03:18 PM

thanks Hammerhead, see, that one could go on a white section of a car, whereas the white one, could go on a darker section of a car. Not so much the colours I'm fussed about though, as important as they are, as with the two similar logos, I can get them in a range of colours, but what do you think of the style?

hammerhead 11-11-2010 03:20 PM

ye pretty cool as long as theyre readable and your happy with them thats all that matters

lochness42 11-11-2010 03:26 PM

Well, I'm not that big fan of them
What do you want to use them for?
Stickers, banner, ...?

sldmodels 11-11-2010 03:29 PM

yeah, they're not only for the website, but car bodyshells. The original one, is just a bit too long in some instances, which is why I've cropped it and put part of it underneath.

sldmodels 11-11-2010 03:37 PM

Jonmillar's done me a mock up logo, and it is looking sweet. Will put it up here later when I've got the finished article, but me is happy

lochness42 11-11-2010 03:49 PM

My quick attempt. Had it black/white at first but changed it to purple as you have it on your webpage.

I like it, it does look good, but again, it would be hard to see on a car doing 30-40mph.

I think the main text should be a solid white, then it stands out more, boring I know, but I've got to think about what will get the sld models "brand" to be seen.

Well I'm voting all for more contrast logo, I just thought that you want to have texture in your logo no matter what according to your first pics.
I made it less visible.

Oh and well take these logos as just draft versions. :D

sldmodels 11-11-2010 04:13 PM

yeah, that's cool too

I'm gonna have some difficult choices to make over the next few days lol

better to have few options rather than none :p

sldmodels 11-11-2010 04:17 PM

Well I'm no good at making decisions, so I might just have several logos and have done with it

sldmodels 18-11-2010 10:18 AM

New logo all done. Thanks to Jon at RCS Graphic Works, amazing job, now just need someone to do me some decal sheets for me and to give to customers, so need to find the right balance between quality and cost, if anyone can recommend someone then please let me know.

New logos can now be seen on the shop's FaceBook page (link should be in my sig).

simoncrabb 18-11-2010 02:25 PM

We're getting our decals done by Craig Harris at DecTek.co.uk

jonmiller 18-11-2010 02:39 PM

glad you like them sarah

thanks for the link simon, will check them out. can you give me an idea of price? ie amount n size/type of decals you are getting done and the cost involved. pm me if you like.

i normally use kevin at decaldesigns as his work is great and so are the prices but contacting him is a nightmare.

sldmodels 18-11-2010 02:45 PM

Yeah, been considering DecalDesigns, as far as the comms go though, I'd take what my old flute teacher told me "If you want something doing right, see a busy man". Hopefully this means there in demand, and not that they're bad at communicating.

simoncrabb 18-11-2010 03:28 PM

You have pm Jon. Craig's been great, whilst the stuff's not cheap, per decal it seems reasonable, and way better than anything I've managed to produce myself.
