Are these any good been looking at a 8.5T combo to go in a B4

IMHO the best you'll get without spending an absolute fortune.
I've run one in my TC for a couple of years now. Good performance, and not had any issues. Plenty of my club mates run them too now, all very pleased with them

I'm got two of the 35a 9T's one in b4 and one in slash, both perform well and with the programming card v tunable :)
(v reasonable prices on ebay, if happy to buy it from HK? i've had no issues on that front)

Very good dollar per performance and very reliable ESC's and motors. The motors that end in .5 like the 5.5 and 8.5 are the larger full size rotor. The others like 9T, 13T are smaller rotors but still go pretty quick :!) I get them all off ebay from HK and no problems yet

iv used easy run for ages now no probs very gd for money iv got excelorin iv had more problems with them and that was three times price

has anyone had any problems getting a good strong braking set up from any of their xerun, ezrun, or extreme stock hobbywing's i have all 3 and have the same problem with all of them, just need someone to tell me what i am doing wrong!!!

I have just moving over to these units from Speed Passion and found the same issue, it is however easily fixed!

What you need to do is set the reverse percentage to 100%, even if running in forward only. It seems that due to the fact that brushless speedos actually drive reverse current in to act as brakes they need to be able to use the whole range of current to get the best retardation.

If you have easy access to brake end point on your transmitter once you turn the reverse level up to 100% then also set the maximum brake force to 100% and turn it down on the transmitter. If not set the maximum brake force on the controller.

I must admit that there are a couple of little points like that where the manual could be improved but on the whole I am very impressed with the performance of the ESCs.

I have an Extreme Stock and HobbyWing 13.5T in my touring car and with careful setting of the 'turbo' features it like a missile but still very drivable.

In fact I am experimenting with the turbo & timing settings on the 1S and V2.1 units with the modified motors in the off road cars as way of giving a 'tunable profile' and although there is more to do I am very encouraged with the results so far.
I have made the cars feel really smooth yet if anything they are quicker on the top end than with any previous setups ... but that might just be the Orion motors I am playing with!
Also by doing the above everything runs cooler as a buggy is only at the top end of throttle for a small part of a lap the reduced timing in the lower parts of the throttle = less heat generated.

Would the drag brake setting play a part too :confused:

No it doesn't mate. All the drag brake setting really does is give same effect as if you set the neutral point a little into the brake zone so that when you let go of the stick / trigger it applys a little bit of braking rather than letting the car coast freely. It is mainly there to help the motors feel a little more like brushed motors and also to help with rotation into a corner.
