Nihm battery

I'm really new so please excuse me asking the obvious; My TT01 came with a NiCad (many years ago). Can I just put a Nihm battery in?

Cheers

Hope this helps

just rem u cant run nimh down flat like you could do with nicd.

Nightshade 04-11-2010 04:36 PM

So I need to leave some charge in a nimh?
I read that I'd need a different charger too. Mine says Nicad/Nimh. Would you trust it?

That charger should be fine just set it to nimh mode

Most nihm,s dont like to be discharged below 0.9v per cell as they can be damaged. If its been a while since youcharged any batteries remember not to charge them at more than 1c
eg if you,ve got 4200mah batteries set your old charger to nihm and charge at 4.2a (1c)
ifyou,ve got 3300mah batteries set charger to 3.3a
try to buy a balancing tray to keep them in good condition when you discharge them.

Ah.
Well the charger I have (Ansmann acx2) has no option to switch between nicad/nihm, it just says it does both on the back. And no options for what to charge at either, just plug in the battery and go till the little light says charged :)

nimhs

do'nt worry too much , about it as long as you have correct voltage (7.2v 6 cells) you will be fine
however i advise you watch carefullly your first few charges to make sure the charger is reliable and consistent your batteries when finished their charge should be slightly warm but not hot .
i assume from your posts that you are fairly new and your kit is fairly standard spec so you wont be pushing the cells to hard yet .t your cells will be fine just enjoy your hobby and develop at a pace your pocket can keep up with

best wishes Dave
