54263 TRF201 high traction lower deck
 

Anyone seen this recently released part and know what surface it's designed for using on, or is it just a replacement STD chassis ?

spotted this myself and was wondering.according to randy caster over on rc tech its a more flexible chassis for low grip conditions compared to a standard chassis.dont know how much use it will be on grass/astro until its been tried i guess:confused:

It is reinforced, but will have more flex?
Tamiya says "polyurethane-glass reinforced lower deck will provide your chassis with superior pitch and chassis roll rigidity which will lead to improved handling, traction, and suspension effects".

As you may also have seen, they will release new motor plate 54276, that is 2.5 grams lighter than std and also have "protrusion to allow for an improved attachment with the motor cover and protection against dust"

Hi Guys, yeah i have seen them on Ebay, just had no idea how they differed from the std chassis thats all. Im still none the wiser - Reinforced doesnt usually mean more flexible ! :confused:

I think it is stiffer and heavier than the original chassi.
Ebay item says "helps enhance torsional rigidity" too so.

The new deck has MORE traction than the stock deck. More flexible.

I'm well confused by this too, so it's stronger but softer?? What is it, the 201 Andrex chassis??:lol:

Good call on the motor plate though, the standard one is very hard to seal the cover against!!

I´m also confused. Reinforced, helps enhance torsional rigidity but still more flex?

I have one and I am sure that its stiffer than the kit version...

This is what Tamiya use for the "softer" plastics on the high-end cars. I assume the standard chassis has the carbon reinforcement? Usually they mark the moulding somewhere with an arrow pointing to "cf" or "gf".

Could this new optional chassis be the standard chassis for the ' 58477 Tamiya Zahhak - DN01 ' the downgraded TRF201 ? They both seem to have appeared at roughly the same time ?

If so, it might make sense they put a slightly more forgiving chassis on the entry level car and release it as a tuning option for the higher-spec TRF201 ?

If it is stiffer than the TRF201 chassis though, that's my theory blown out of the water :P

Yeah, already checked. Standard chassi is marked gf so...

Arrow points to PU on the new chassis...

When you put them next to each other, the High-Traction chassis is more black than the standard one.

PU would surely mean unreinforced... it's the same marking they put on the bumper trees. I would expect that to be softer than the kit chassis, but I don't have either in front of me!

The language barrier is what leads to the "reinforced" confusion. When translating the original Japanese to English, this type of thing can happen.

It says High Traction not reinforced. And remember the TRF511 arms are high traction compared to the TRF501X, meaning the PROVIDE more traction as they're more flexible.

Cheers for input guys, i guess its debatable whether mere mortals will notice any difference between chassis ?? I must admit, i have used high traction arms on my 511 all season and switched to 501x tougher versions last time out. Noticed no difference in grip levels.

Think it is funny though that Tamiyausa call it Reinforced Lower Deck, not high traction...
