few questions about cat sx
 

hi there,

my Schumacher cat sx turned up on Friday and I finished rebuilding it by dinner time yesterday but i tried to get the motor in but it was hitting on the battery? i am running a 3600 trakpower gold battery and fusion exceed brushless system. has anyone had a problem like this?

my second question is i am looking for a decent grass setup for my cat as i will be mostly running it on grass. because mine is the phil booth edition is the phil booth setup very good? what is the camber on this setup it does not say?

Hi lewis

If you're planning on racing the cat at coastal's off road track (bumpy grass) I'd recommend the Grant Williams Cat SX1 base set up (can be found on here in the cat set up thread), the main differences between that & the PB set up being drilled shock pistons, longer shock ball joints & weight on/under the chassis (among other things)...

Do these & will glide over the bumps & feel much 'safer':thumbsup:

There are other changes but doing just these low cost ones will make a real difference for starters.

May not be your cup of tea but made a real difference for me:)

Battery might be too far over in the center, or your getting a bit keen on the pinion size.

Is the battery hitting the motor or the alloy mount that holds the motor ?

found out the problem with motor and battery the motor clamp had a small dent and the metal from the dent was preventing the motor mount moving properly. so it has all the electrics in just need servo saver and it is finished.

i will have a look at the grant williams setup but i didn't want to go drilling shocks i just wanted a good standard setup without modifications (yet!) i will keep looking and i will let you know.

Thats the one, yeah.

As for camber & toe in, personal preference I guess:confused:

I've always run no toe in (0 degrees) on the front (rear is on the set up sheet indicated by washers inserted with hinge pin blocks) & camber at 1 or 2 degrees negative...

A few of the local lads have got losi size piston drills if you want to drill them:thumbsup:

I tend to run slight toe in on mine which works for me on the front. 3.2 degrees on the rear.
