MS Outlook Express

HELP!

I use outlook express to deal with my email (hotmail).

Whenever it downloads messages it dislays each one twice, then after an hour or so will catch up and display only one. But if I delete 1 (of the 2) sometimes when it catches up it deletes effectivly both of them.

Any ideas?

If I wanted to do that, I wouldn't be using outlook express would I?

You paying for it then? Hotmail doesn't allow http forwarding through outlook without their paid account.

Anyway, try running an update on it, it was a glitch on the earlier versions of OE, which should now be fixed. I think it's to do with you computer 'pre fetching' emails on the hotmail server and then duplicating them when you next send/receive and download the email entirely.

Paying??? No way.

I've always used outlook express, it has always come with my OS and just worked. If I go to add, mail account, POP3 accounts are just there.

I'm fully up to date with updates, so that's out I'm afraid

Anyone else?

Ill try it at work tomo. Ive got a beta trial thing with Microsoft on a new type of email system and that wont even let me use my hotmail accounts anymore!

Could you try forwarding your mail from Hotmail to your home outlook address instead of accessing the Hotmail mail server from outlook directly?

wouldnt that just defeat the object of using OE as he would have to log into hotmail first to forward them. :wtf:

I download emails from hotmail to Outlook, rather than Outlook Express. And i switched when Express kept downloading two of every message.

I suggest you try Outlook Dan. Its not that different from express if you just want to send and receive emails.

Mike.

No, it would be an automatic thing once setup.

Why not use Mozilla thunderbird, its just like Outlook but different :D

I prefer it over Outlook, it has more features and better security I believe!
