Sloppy front camber -TRF511
 

I run aluminum caster blocks and standard (steel I assume?) Tamiya king pins and there is a ton of slop.... camber varies from +2 to -2 degrees I would guess. I was thinking of replacing king pins but I'm afraid the aluminum is what is wearing out.

My king pins are original (been running my 511 since August 2009) and my aluminum caster blocks are nearly as old (I built the car with standard plastic blocks but broke one in a crash and decided to get 10 degree aluminum blocks).

Anyone else have sloppy front camber? Thoughts? I hate to replace aluminum caster blocks just to get rid of slop. :mad:

I shim them. Also put a little antiwear grease between the plastic and alu.

I do not see how you can shim the vertical holes in the caster blocks.

I think the steel king pins are wearing away the aluminum.

They are. I've worn out a set of alu caster blocks and refitted the plastic ones again. The alu looks good and gives you more setup options, but it dosent last long. Especially on high grip surfaces. The holes turn ovally and causes the slop.

can you not fit 'top hat' bushes?

Yeah mine slop to Buggery too!! It's still quick though!

I realize it's not a touring car, but the slop is there. Maybe I'll run the plastic caster blocks for a while.

Doubt any Tamiya flanges would fit, you'd need a very thin flange, and maybe under 3mm diameter?

Didnt know Tamiya did flanges, whats the part number ? You can never have too much flange
