fs-fs2 diffrences
 

hi every one

just want to clarify the diffrences between the fs and fs2 as far as i can tell the body the rear shock springs the slipper clutch and am i corrrect in thinking the chassis is the same except without battery slots.

i appologise if this has been asked before muchly appreciate it

The main differences are;

chassis moulded with closed battery slots
slipper clutch optional locking pin included
springs
body
some slightly tweeked hardware

but the main differences in terms of performance are

rear wishbones
rear hubs
rear driveshaft dogbones
rear driveshaft axles
optional LAW36/37 aluminium rear hinge pin hangers (with toe adjustment) in the box (I think .. best check with Neil first)


I am considering getting a brand new FS2 to replace my much used but still brilliant FS as the cost of the rear end components and body more than justify the additional cost over an FS kit and upgrade. Yes I know I have most of the bits but they are as well loved as the rest of the car.

Still not bad, not a single piece of drivetrain hardware changed due to wear in 2 years of running her ... like to see many other 4wd cars do that :D

so what is differnt between the fs rear arms hubs and driveshafts and the fs2.

you also get given longer ball joints to use for the front steering knuckles so you get more bump steer.

To be clear ......

The FS is a VERY good car, my own car is still running to FS spec.

The FS2 was put together to give more rotation mid corner which suits certain people / tracks better.

If you have an FS in good order, can find a clean second hand FS (like your Mikey) or prefer a car with a more locked in rear end then stick with the FS ... you can always upgrade later if that is what you feel is best for you.

If you have to have the latest spec, like a car that rotates more mid corner or find the added bling and new body a must have then FS2 it is.

The reason I will be going FS2 is that I have all the FS bits to convert it back if I wanted to and I like to have the latest greatest.

Biggest bonus to a new FS2 driver though is the inclusion of the LAW36/37 as they are a few quid to buy separately but really worth every penny!

In summary get either car and you won't be disappointed ... if you want more specifically tailored info then post up with what you currently drive and how you like a car to feel and I will do my best to advise the optimum starting point for you personally.

Chassis Length?

Is the FS chassis length the same as the FS2, but just the cell holes filled in?

Yes, a couple of subtle changes (I believe to improve impact strength) and the cell holes filled in otherwise the same.
