What should I know about the X Pro?

Just ordered an X Pro for some electric fun in between my regular 8th Nitro outings. From reading the posts here it seems like the rear T piece is a real weak spot, is there a recomended replacement/upgrade or do I just carry a bunch in my pit box:thumbdown:? Also, any other tips I should know about before I crack the wrenches out and get building?

x pro

Have been racing the xpro all summer has been brilliant:thumbsup:.
Did what most people have done and brought the mad rat as spares.
But only needed a front wishbone and a back hub all summer so the boy is racing the madrat.
Regarding the weak points i looked on here at peoples comments and yes the t piece is a week link but my solution to the problem was just to get a 2mm piece of ally the width of the front bumper and run it the length of the chassis all the way to the rear of the t piece enabaling me to add strength to the front and rear in one go just using longer screws in the holes you choose to use to secure plate to chassis.
Hope this helps and happy racing. For the money there is no comparison.

The new tpieces are fine i havent broken one since the update.Carbon fibre ones are available if you wanted to beef it up more.
These buggies are a steal at £79.99

Yep I agree there is no way to break the newer bendable t pieces, they could bend at 90 degrees and still not break

Only thing thats broke on mine is the thrust bearing, bfast to the rescue

Cheers guys... just order a speedo, 8.5 motor and a couple of 4600 hardcase packs for it, plus all the carbon goodies ('cause I love carbon goodies!).

Should be fun. Just worked out it's the best part of 20 years since I last ran 2wd and that was with a stock 540 motor and Tamiya mechanical speed control. Have a feeling this might be a bit different.

Cheers guys, going to be a real adventure... things have moved on a bit in 20 years it seems:lol:

Initially will be racing at TORCH in Hampshire (about 20 minutes from me). I travel about a bit with the Nitros so the aim of the electric is to have a bit of fun close to home... but you never know, I tend to wind up taking things way to seriously!

One thing I did mean to ask was about pinions... what pitch are the Ansmanns running, and any one got any suggestions for an 8.5 motor on a 60 amp ESC running outdoors on astro?

ben44 04-10-2010 07:38 AM

You can use pignon to 21 to 25 depending the track.

There 48dp and I would be running a 24,25 if I were you maybe even a 26 if it's a big track

Cheers for the input everyone. About half way through the build now an so far I'm pretty impressed. Screws are a bit on the soft-side when going into the very hard chassis, had a couple of heads go before I started to use a high-tensile steel one to pre-tap the holes. Since then no probs. Years of captured pins on by 8th scales had made me forget what a pain E Clips are though:woot:

Drat and blast, so close to done. Then discovered my kit is missing 4 screws and has three front lower suspension arms and only one rear. All ahead stop... fortunately I wasn't planning on running it just yet, but man is that a pain.

JE Spares via EBay. Have some spares on order from Apex anyway as I like to have parts to hand. Will give JE a bell tomorrow and sort some thing out. Cracking out the airbrush tonight to sort some ink for the shell.

MrMagoo 09-10-2010 05:21 PM

Photos of the X-Pro in it's (almost) finished glory! Batts, motor and speedo on the way from good ole HK, tyres and pinion from Apex should do it. Oh, and that pesky rear arm should be sorted next week with luck.
