Lex, need more info! :eh?: What kind of track! Short technical... Long and fast... Come on, don't be stingy with the details!

For reference, I was racing this summer on an average technical/ medium speed (only one full straight to it) slippery clay track. Using a CC Mambamax 5700 setup and geared 84/22. Temps were coming off 165-180F depending on the day (local temperature I guess). From what I know, the 5700 is about similar between a 6.5 and 7.5T...

I know that's a far comparison since the motors are quite different, but I figured I give it anyways since there was nothing else in the thread.

If I was in yout shoes, I'd probably start out 84/19T and see temps from there...

Just my 0.02$

What's the max temp recommended for that motor? That's a high grip track, I might even start lower (18T)...

Whatever you choose, give it a go with a temp gun. Run hard for 2 minutes, pull over, check temps... If it's good, continue another 2 minutes... check, if good, another 2 minutes... If you make it through the 6 minutes without overpassing the recommended temp, you're OK. If you are way below, you have room to up the pinion (if you want more speed)...

That's how I approach a new track...
