Wow! That looks impressive.

There's a few of us in the north essex/south suffolk area needing a dedicated off road track to race on now our club has gone into hibernation...

We run 1/10th electric, is the track suitable for these - its certainly big enough - I'm thinking 7/8 laps in 5 mins:woot:

Hi Mark
I was talking to a couple of off road racers at the weekend and they said they had tried to find the track but could'nt. As I live fairly local I said I would see if I could find the address. Coming from Gt Wigborough the sat nav took me left into Chuch Road, then into Peldon Road. I went up and down this stretch to the end a couple of times, asked a couple of locals, they said, never heard of it, and gave up. Are there any better directions, is it opposite something? is it in Peldon Road? You could be losing prospective racers.
Regards
Bob

comments have been made that some satnavs do not take you the correct way.
the access is at butterfly lodge farm on the mersea rd. the peldon rd does go right behind the track. track is located next to the grey wind turbine that sticks above the trees.
hope this helps.:)

track is open for practice saturdays. £5.
the track will be open during the week but no set times arranged as of yet. will let you all know soon once confirmed.
no transponder should not be an issue. we can still manully count your laps.

thanks Lewis.

Hi
I'm gonna go down for a practice with my 8th.
I've never run on astro before. Whats the best tyres to run??

learnerdriver 17-10-2010 04:48 PM

taken off thread on maxbashing, remember the fronts will need 2 -3 rows trimming off (suggest trying to get hold of some second hand ones)

The best tyres are as follows:

Dry:
Schumacher Mini Pins
or
Schumacher Mini Spikes (My preference on the longer pile astro)

Wet:
Hobao angle spikes
or
Schumacher Spirals

Don't think anyone could moan at that list
that should just about cover it, just remember that the spikes and pins will need some trimming IMO
hope this helps

A few of us went down and raced 1:10 Electric. Very good!!!

No. 46 17-10-2010 08:02 PM

Second that. Was great for 10th electric. Easy enough to get round but really hard to get a spot on lap. Loved every minute of the racing today, the track just let you push harder and harder and harder then just as you thought you had the better of the track it bit you in the arse:o

The track really rewarded good, smooth driving and let you carry some massive corner speed if you felt brave enough, as well as some massive air over the jumps:woot:

Can't wait to get back on track in a couple of weeks time.
