Even better than that, they're considering charlie cox for his place, that man is a legend of a commentator!

That would be just as bad as keeping Legard, he ruins MotoGP with the rubbish that comes out of his mouth:thumbdown:

i Vote DC for the job......

peetbee 17-09-2010 09:01 PM

I thought James Allen not getting a job at the BBC was the best F1 news ever?!

I thought it was going to be more exciting, like introducing a mandatory pit stop that each driver must down 4 can of stella, 6 shots of sambuca and a roll of columbias finest weed.

bring back tires that actualy wear out!!

Went to the Goodwood Revival yesterday and watch the pre-66 F1 cars. No aero, skinny treaded tyres and lots of horsepower = sliding cars, lots of braking zone, sideways action and loads of overtaking - and that was only practice.

The BRM Anniversary display had an old Yardley BRM from the '70s, and the guy couldn't resist giving it some beans, so that too was sideways and sliding and faaaasssst! And, of course, we had Murray and James to do the commentary. You can see it all by looking at the old broadcasts from the BBC website. Sometimes I wonder if the the last 30 years have been any progress at all from a spectators viewpoint.

Don't care much either way who does the commentary, and neither should the BBC. I watch the racing and listen to Martin (you should have seen him yesterday in a 1950's Austin A35 Touring Car - the guy can drive!). The fact that you guys know all about it means you'll watch the coverage whoever they put up!! :D

Now, where's the boys Cox and Parrish and the MotoGP qualifying - real men doing real racing... ;)

this guy is the worst commentator I have ever heard, he was bad at driving and even worse at commentating.

Plea to the BBC..... please, please, please do NOT consider James Allen

telboy 18-09-2010 06:40 PM

I think the other guy that does the friday practice would be a mint replacement. He knows what he's on about and adds a bit of humour to what would normally be a boring session.

But, I say "bring back Murray!!":woot:

shawn 18-09-2010 07:12 PM

Here's my top tip.

Watch the TV but mute the sound.
Listen to it via Radio 5 Live remembering to turn the sound up to the max.

( that Friday guy is Anthony Davidson and he's on it )

Try it next week, IT'S BRILLIANT :woot:

My top top tip is don't watch it live but hit the red button afterwards.

Click on the highlights and ten minutes later your done.
As Martin would say " A nett gain of 3 hours "

:D

Agreed... Eurosport, with Toby Moody, Julian Ryder, and Neil Spalding + associated guests during a weekend, eg Ben Spies on friday (how laid back and cool is that bloke!) are ace... Excellent commentators, all compliment each other, and the banter is brilliant! And as it's sky+ as usually racing, not an issue that it's not live :D

As for other commentators... the Radio Le Mans crew are pretty special, and Martin Haven can be brilliantly entertaining... but maybe time to bring the 5Live bunch onto the tv screen, with MB of course ;)
