LRP Blast - brushless
Managed to pick up a cheap blast truck with the intention of replacing my rustler as main bashing vehicle.
So for starters, transplant everything into the blast, with a 3s lipo: http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast1.JPG http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast2.JPG http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast3.JPG initial run was promissing, a lot of flexing from different components but overall very stable. There was a lot of play in the rear hubs, they also used a small 5x8 bearing, I transplaned the rustler rear hub into the blast, had to mill a tiny bit off each side. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast4.JPG and make some hinge pins, E clip on one end, cut a thread on the other for a lock nut, larger 5 x 10 bearings on the left. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast5.JPG http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast6.JPG When the servo saver is tightened right up the bearing can fall out the bottom! so I made a tiny alloy collar to hold the bearing in place http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast7.JPG on the top of the rack, trimmed the plastic and secred the screw with a nut instead. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast8.JPG Now the chassis, sent off to the good people at fibrelyte, I wanted the top deck a bit thinner and the battery strap a lot wider for the lipo. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast9.JPG |
All the screws in the standard car are pretty naff, the hex rounds easily so I changed them all for stainless hex heads
http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast10.JPG machined a piece of delrin as a lipo tray to stop any movement. http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast11.JPG installed, nice! http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast12.JPG http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast13.JPG drilled 2 more holes to screw the speedo down http://www.ukmonsters.co.uk/lrpblast/blast14.JPG just waiting on some shims to re-shim the diff and some proper wheel hex's then I can give it a blast! |
Mate that is an impressive mod. Keep the pics coming.

Fantastic.
Wish i could have the machines to be able to do such things. |
Very nice work! I like it!
Where did you get that piece of delrin? I'm searching for that stuff. Grts, |

Blast
Going to give the little beasty a try again this christmas So with that in mind I have spoken to fibre-lyte and asked them to make me a chassis but with holes for the lrp battery packs and a thinner batt strap. Also a hole for the spur gear resess. Then hopefully when all the LRP carbon towers and rear driveshafts hex's and other bits come It will get blinged up ready to roll again.
