Timing loop wire?

I need to make our club timing loop wire a lot longer due to track design for a national we will be hosting. What spec / type of wire should I use? Any Max length, or is it down to resistance? HELP!

Thanks.

We just use ordinary, flexible, copper equipment wire, 1mmsq or 1.5mmsq.

You should be able to pick some up at any electrical trade counter.

You then need a resistor for the middle of the loop - 470ohm if i remember correctly, but can check.

The two halves of the loop should be about 18" apart when laid.

Thanks Dan. Am I right in thinking the AMB terminal black box has this resistor in, or do I still need to add a resistor?
Cheers.

Here the manual for the AMB (mylaps) system.

It has information on placing the loop.
