No Top-3 for Team Associated?

Just had a quick chat with someone, and was thinking how long ago was it that AE didn't have a car in the Top 3 in 2wd? (UK Nats)

Thinking back to the early 90's when the XX came out, Craig was still putting the RC10 in there amongst them and as he started to do less, Craggy always kept the car up there in the Top 1-3 places, and then obviously Bradders, Lee etc have done so...

I was thinking it's probably never actually happened (certainly not the years i can remember)???

Tamiya haven't had a car at the top for a long long time, but i bet it's been longer since AE weren't in the Top 3?

I was actually thinking this earlier, but I wonder if this is the first main championship ae havnt been in the top 3? They have been so dominant it wouldn't surprise me!

Pull your finger out Yardee

Seriously though it's quite a surprise, the Car's still just as good i'm sure but things are changing quite fast in 2wd it seems... I guess finally the UK is getting cars that are more designed for our type of surfaces / racing - If all our tracks were loose dirt i would think it would be tighter? I know Lee's done awesome with the Tamiya, but i think it shows the majority of our tracks now really are suited to Mid-motor cars, especially now people have really got to grips with Lipo.

It's weird as i honestly believed a mid-motor car would never be good enough, i just thought they looked so wrong and awkward that they just can't be right... I guess after only ever racing or seeing Rear motor cars working it just seemed to be the way to go - Maybe LiPo's have made the difference to allow mid-motor cars to work properly?

I guess the next thing is will these cars start winning big races in the States or on dirt in general? Euro's? Worlds even? I guess while the top top guys (Cavalieri, Maifield, Tebo) are still running rear motors chances are it'll be a while yet... but i wonder if things will start to change in the next few years?
