My explanation of Cache, RAM and Virtual memory
Someone asked me what Cache was, etc. Here's what I could come up with.
Say you're baking a cake... You have ingredients and equipment on the table. This is your RAM aka Memory. You can access it quickly and it's close to you. You have a wooden spoon in your hand. This is your Cache. Instantly available, but you can only hold 1 spoon at a time. cache is very small compared to RAM. Then there's something you haven't got on the table and it's in the pantry. This is your virtual memory. Very slow compared to the other 2, but works similar to the RAM. They got it  |
Brilliant

I like cake when it's got that little bit of jam going through it, tasty. Never actually baked a cake, might give it a try, how hard can it be? It's an important life skill & all that.
