Map of Offroad Tracks in the UK

I'm not sure if something similar to this has been produced before but I've started to create a google map of UK offroad tracks.

Please feel free to add your clubs location to the map and attach the clubs website/postcode etc.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=...269043&t=h&z=6

To update a location do the following (you need to have a google email account for it to work):

1. Click on the link.
2. Once its opened search for the location you want to save in the google maps search bar.
3. Once loaded on the left side of the page there is a "save to" option, click on that
4. As you accessed google maps through this link it gives you the option of saving in this map i.e. 1/10th offroad tracks
5. Once saved you can click on edit and update the link with the web page and club info etc

Done!

How do we add to the map? It requires an email address and password.

No.... But,if it's your map won't it be connected to your account?

wacattack 08-08-2010 07:21 PM

I've set it up as a public map so anyone should be able to save things to it

A great idea, I did something for the midsouth area, surprised by how often I need to update the info....... approx once every six months for half a dozen pins. http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10465 (wondering now if I should add motoarena!)

possibly to much info on the midsouth map, but think the pins should be on the track, for stotfold its across the road in the field not in the pub/farm.

There is also a very good index of all tracks at http://www.centralbooking.org/cbs/in...ubs&Itemid=151

But yea, great, lets get them all on there :thumbsup:

Can you add the website for the clubs so we can see what meetings are going to be on? That would be really handy.

Cool idea though. I like it :)

Public just means that it is viewable by everyone, and can be searched by google.
I'm pretty sure that you cant save new locations to a public map unless you are the owner.
I can't add Adur Model Car club to this map anyway.
maybe I'm doing something wrong.

  1. Create or edit a map.
  2. Click Collaborate in the left panel. A dialog box appears.
3. Enter or choose the following:

Invite persons as collaborators - Enter the email address(s) of anyone you want to collaborate on your map.
Message - Type the message you want to appear in the invitation to your collaborators
Collaborators may invite others - Check this to allow your collaborators to allow other collaborators
Allow anyone to edit this map - Check this to enable any Google Maps users to edit your map
Collaborators - You can remove any or all collaborators

4. Click OK. Google Maps sends an invitation to any collaborators you specified.
I would like to add our club - PM with email address on the way - or a link you can add yourself.

Great job by the way

Can someone try adding their club to the site? Ive made changes to the settings so hopefully anyone can now add their clubs details.

Also, feel free to post links to your clubs website or any relevant info within the link in the map

How do you pin point a track ???

Col 09-08-2010 09:21 PM

I think Glenn (chequered flag racing) has a near complete google map list.. Might be worth getting in touch.

Nice one, keep em coming guys. And as has been said, on your pin put as much info as you can so racers can get all the information they need about forthcoming meetings

Benh 09-08-2010 10:25 PM

Updated.

Benh 09-08-2010 11:01 PM

What's the search term that would bring this up, by the way?

"1/10 Off Road" already brings up our original google map page.
