What's wrong with LRP'S SPX Stock Spec
I notice a lot of used SPX ESCs showing up on RC forums being sold for a lot less money that what they retailed for. And I have a pretty good idea of how much used stuff go for, but 30-40% of retail?
So, I'll ask, what's wrong with this ESC? I'm about to buy a couple of them and I'd like to know if there are issues with this model. Any help is appreciated. |
I prefer for the money the castle mamba max range, tho lrp spx is great too, thing is most people would put motor and esc through its paces (thrash it) you cant trust a used esc and motor up for sale to last long,
I always buy new, I get warranty then. |

2. No known issue's that I've heard about. |

had mine around six months now, it runs a 5.5 ballistic with no problems, can't fault them.

IMO nothing secondhand is worth more than 50% of new.

Agree with this, the SPX has now been superceeded twice by newer speedos. The SXX Stock Spec with V1 firmware and now we are up to V3 for that speedo. I run a v3 myself. The SXX TC Spec is now on its second generation so i suspect that the SXX stockspec will likely follow suit but i dont know for sure. Wont make any differene to you unless you are able to make use of every bit of power. Biggest gains come from driving ability. HTH |

I've got SPX Stock Spec forsale the only reason I'm selling mine is i no longer need it as i dont run touring anymore.
But there def nothing wrong with the speedos though & there ideal for someone who wants one for 2wd buggy i reckon |

I could be wrong tho... |

carl, its a two in one speedo mate. two settings one for stock the other for mod it goes down to a 3.5t if you need to but a fan is a must under 6.5 in a 4wd.

LRP make the best quality speedo out there IMHO. Great throttle feel, bulletproof, and easy to set up and run. But...
When BL came in, I had to buy three LRP speedos at between £150 and £200 a go, to keep abreast of the software changes. As I could foresee this being the beginning of some serious software upgrades, I switched to Tekin, and have since had three software upgrades for precisely £0. LRP are on their fourth upgrade since I switched brands which today would have got me no change from the thick end of £600 in new speedos. My one Tekin speedo saved me lots of dough, and was paid for by... selling off my LRPs!! :) From the perspective of me and a lot of my fellow racers, that's why there are a lot of LRP speedos on the market. If you look in the For Sale section here, there are always the last generation of LRP for sale, and rarely the latest ones! I used LRP for over 20 years, and was sorry to change, but I couldn't afford it. They're great speedos, but cost of ownership over recent years is too high. If you run TC Modified or Off Road, or don't need all the latest timing-on-the-fly adjustments, then I honestly can't recommend anything better than an LRP. HTH :) |

Thanks guys! I'm going to go for it. At US$120 for two SPXs, I was actually half-decided, just wanted to make sure there are no issues. They'll be used for offroad, club level, so I think I don't really need the greatest.
Thanks again for the help! |
