2.0 mm drive shafts trueness ?
 

just running my 410R on the bench and it appears that the front drive shatfs don't run true, they look slightly bent. When holding the wishbones level and running the drive train slowly you can see they don't run straight, they are either bent, or the problem is coming from the outdrive not running the shaft true.


Anyone else noticed this ?

yes mine is the same both top shafts also it seems to vibrate the whole car when on the bench but on the ground it seems ok:confused:

yeah.. I don't own an R version, but have seen serveral at our local track and the centre driveshafts do appear to be sub optimal in trueness..

hmm....dont like the sound of that, I was planning on buying an "R" as a spares mule for my current dex-410, in order to have the upgraded driveshafts plus extra shocks, diffs etc.

If this is an issue then perhaps the Teresy (sp) parts are the way to go :confused:

I have the problem with the front drive shafts, as well as the front centre shaft from the slipper. On the bench, it doesn't look great.

Rear drive shafts are ok, run, nice and true.

I did all mine using the trusty dremel, about 3 x 2mm diamond spherical cutting bits (for all the holes) and 2 x 2mm cylindrical diamond coated bits to open out the slotted parts, and a cutting wheel to grind flats on a packet of tamiya 10 x 10x2mm shaft drive pins

less than $10AUD all up.

OK.. came home and found my R kit waiting for me.
I already have the full spec ver, but thought I'd get the R for spares..
What I've found is that if the CVDs aren't completely free... ie no binding from excess threadlock or anything else. then it will appear to be out of true.

My CVDs were a little stiff after the the initial assembly and i found that the drive shafts wobbled like no tomorrow. And it was noisy as all hell.
So I decided to pull everything apart and reassemble. This time I used telfon grease when assembling the CVDs and a bit of lube. Put everything back together and they all run true as an arrow, plus much much quieter.

I'm not saying this is the case for everyone. But for those who think their driveshafts are out of true, then give this trick a go.

There's nothing wrong with the 2mm shafts.
My shafts are true and straight. Period.
...At least, thats what my wife tells me.;)
