X6 to X6 squared.
 
I would like to convert my X6 into the squared version. Can anyone tell me if it's just a case of swapping chassis or are there different parts between the two.

There's more to it than that, at least chassis, rear wishbones, rear shock tower, servo mounts. Other than that not sure there could be more.

theres the little brass inserts for the chassis that the hinge pins sit in also

To tell the truth, I went from an X6 to an X6² and sort of prefer the old one.

You can update your old car with the new wishbones and the rear shock tower. Only really worth it if you run out of old rear arms though.

The FULL list of actual chassis parts that are different is as follows;

Chassis
Battery Strap and fixings
Servo mounts
Rear wishbones
Rear shock tower
Rear inner hinge pin bushes

and some people run the old rear end on the squirt car.

I also prefer the old car, just because the nose is a separate piece and cheap to replace.
if the front end was as strong as a B4 chassis I wouldn't have any problems with it though.

I also prefer the old x6.
Prefer how the chassis has a seperate front.
I havent noticed any improvement trying a friends x6 squared to my old x6 to be honest.

You can still fit lipos in the old x6 with old brace and everything

Ironic, how the X6 SQ was made as a one piece since the public wanted it that way, yet some of the comments on this thread, several people preffered the older X6 with the two piece chassis..... :confused:

Guess we cannot please them all.......

I think they are both good :thumbsup: but as I race an original x6 partly because it was a good price and because it had an replaceable front end. :)

I have seen front end breakages one of which being stood on by a marshal :thumbdown: (dont trust brown jumpered marshals :lol:)

It's also very easy to convert the squirt chassis to a two piece chassis. I've done it twice now... :p

We still have a supply of the original nose piece, rear arms and CF shock towers. Even have one or two of the very original one-piece molded shock towers. I think D.M.S. has these parts too, though I doubt most model shops have them.

The Squared was built to be as close to the original as possible in performance characteristics.

I have a buggy in my car ready to run. It's never been raced but I carry it around so when people say, "What kind of work do you do," I just get it out and show them. Saves a lot of explanation. My buggy is an original. Every now and then I think about building a Squared for this purpose -- I probably ought to have the latest and greatest -- but I always find something better to do. The original is still faster than I want to go...
