15 to 20 mins tops to do at home.

You may have to recalibrate the charger also after the rom change which is included in the time I've quoted

Thanks for that i thought the recalibration was more complicated and would require it to be sent back to base. I least i kept the the piece of paper, all i need now is a new rom and a new plastic stand.

I upgraded my ProTrak a few months ago. Changing the ROM was a piece of cake and took no time at all...BUT definitely not down the calibration data before removing the ROM. I didn't and it took a while with a DVM to get it right again.

Also the upgraded ProTrak will not balance charge, so I use an Etronix Battery Doctor on the lipo whilst charging to keep things in check.

Worth writing down but it really needs to be calibrated for the new rom. You may have crossed the + & - and some time and general use it may have wandered.

Also if you make an adaptor to go from 4mm plugs to a deans or change the Pro-Trak charge leads to just a deans plug the values will be out slightly.

In the video shown I am using the newer Pro-Trak charger.

http://www.oople.com/forums/images/icons/icon4.gif Note the ROM's direction.
It has a semi circle in one edge and this must face the LCD display in the older and newer versions of the charger.

The ROM has the glass window in it.
Not sure if this is the case with older versions.

time permitting I'll sort out a video on how to recalibrate the charger following a ROM change

I would have thought it would have been better to recalibrate it a least once a year if you know how to do it and what the offsets mean.

Do mine as and when I feel like it and have the time or if you short the wires on the battteries

Offsets allow you to tune the values of the Pro-Trak to the DVM you are using. Each DVM will give a different by a little so always use the same one each time you do it
