Adding a data package to your mobile phone

I'd like to get a smart phone, but I'm not sure about adding a data package onto my existing plan. At the moment I get 200 mins and unlimited texts which is great for me, but they bum me if I use the 'net' on it. I also pay £17 for this which is good I think.

If I got a smart phone obviously my data usage would increase. Does anyone know roughly how much they charge you for their normal 750mb data when done like this?

I'm on orange. I would take a upgrade, but I'm not due until March and buying the phone sim free works out the cheapest without getting locked into a 24 month contract at £35/month

o2 currently charge £5 for a extra 500mb

on Orange, it is £5 for 500mB a month also, might be worth phoning them up, although you are still in contract, you can still negotiate your tariff.... I pay £20, 300 mins, unlim text and Blackberry email & internet package to boot.

that's good then. I get 25% loyalty discount I think on my current plan. I think it's called Net200, but not sure

edit: dolphin 15, net200 was the last plan I was on a few years ago

Some of them are dropping their unlimited plans as well (if not have done so). Also, 'tethering' your smartphone and using it as a wireless access point is not allowed according to the T's and C's. Although, they have no way of telling.

just checked my online account with orange and I can add on 500mb data for £5. yeah they removed unlimited and all new contracts are on 750mb. I already have a dongle with gives me 500mb for £4.89 and it hasn't worked for a month now so I'll see if I can swap those around.

the mention of moving networks should persuade them muhahahahaah

hmm i get 900 mins, unlimited texts (3000 cap) unlimited internet ( 500 cap) and free land lines ( does not effect my free mins) for £30 with vodafone and a free htc desire!

so much for unlimited texts when really it's 3000... surely that's false advertising?

DCM 05-07-2010 06:34 PM

It isn't capped, more they use it as a Fare Uage policy (or really, a 3000 cap, if you hammer it each month).

Mine came with a Blackberry Cruve too!

where did you get that deal from mark?

jim76 05-07-2010 08:31 PM

the early desire deals were really good, a lot of the best early ones got pulled though.
