gearing advise with a x12 10.5 in bmax 4

hi all want to try this motor out this weekend at the local track on sun. i currently have a 84 spur and just want some opinions as to what size pinion to throw on there. i know the motor recomends 8.0 for final drive on this and the trans ratio is 2.35 to my knowledge. if there is any suggestions that you can help me with it would be greatly appreciated

thanks

also have COMPETITION ELECTRONICS 23 AMP POWER SUPPLY!! for sale

Other than try the recommended drive ration for the motor, then check temps after 2, 4 and 6 minutes, that's it! Go from there! With a 10.5 I think you might want to look into getting a 81T spur. It should make getting the 8.0 final drive ratio easier...

Cheers!

i was gonna try the 84 first but if pinion size is a rough fit then def will run the 81

I'D say a 24 or 25 t pinion on a 84 spur should be a good starting point

Mark, with the 87T spur max pinion that should fit according to the manual is 20T. Will 24 or 25T pinion fit with the 84T??? There isn't much play with the eccentric motor mount... I wasn't sure about fit using the 84T, which is why I suggested going to a 81T in order to achieve his 8.0 final drive ratio. I'm presently running 84T/21T with a Castle creations 5700 kV motor (about a 6.5T motor) and temperatures are right on the money... So is speed and acceleration...

Just food for thought!

i agree with cod there isnt enough room to play with either 87 or 84 so with a 10.5 ill have no choice but to use the 81 and hope that i can get a 24-25 on there but then again that size pinion is just a starting point...ill prolly end up going lower due to the extreme amount of boost im going to be giving it with my lrp sxx stoc spec

ran the setup with my lrp sxx stock spec with the x12 10.5 and this combo is sick!!
used 84/21 with esc settings on 0/3/3/0
car was flying and haveplenty of power motor temped at 160 after a 10 min main!!
didnt get the win but was racing a factory driver so i came in 2nd place tonight
car was dialed to the max!!

best run yet!! and car keeps getting better and better
