connection options between brushless ESC and Motor?

Hi,

I have been tidying up the electronics in my car as my ESC and Motor were connected by VERY long wires!

At the moment, I have detached the wires at the Motor, cut the wires to a shorter length and then re-soldered them at the motor.

However, I find it strange that the ESC and Motor are permanently connected (soldered together). Is this normal with today's RC equipment?

Or does anyone have any other suggestion that works well? e.g. cliping the wires to the Motor, or particular connector blocks to join the wires in the middle?

I don't want to experiement just in case this is a no-no for any reason?!!

best way is to solder direct to your motor less connection less hassle

thank you. But what about making a connection somewhere between the Motor and ESC? Is this usual?

It seems odd that the Motor and ESC have to go everywhere together, e.g. when removing the Motor do tinker with it, which must happen quite often!!

The new speed passion motors use connectors but most / all other motors solder direct

As far as i know theres no reason why you could'nt use connectors it would make it easyer if you wanted to change motor

The only connectors i can think of using would be the corally type

I cut the wires on mine and use connectors. Gold 4mm ones. I read somewhere you shouldn't shorten the wires though.
