B44 - Motor heatsink/fan

Does anyone use (or tried) a motor heatsink or heatsink and fan?

If so:

Which one?
What body and much modification?
Big improvement to motor temps?

Pics of your installation please, if you've got em :thumbsup:

Have you tried cutting the front and rear of the shell to aid cooling flow ?

I used Yeah racing heatsink and fan for 2 years. It fits well under most shells. The fan is cheap, but once worn out can be replaced with a good brushless fan. It reduced temps by about 10-15 deg F I'd say...

Hope this helps!

@Chris-S
Got some cooling holes already cut and not actually had any thermalling problems during a race. I do notice though that when running for practice on my local Astro track, the performance does drop off after about 6/6.5 mins, even though there is plenty of juice left in the Lipo.

@CODMAN
I don't suppose you could post a pic of your setup?

Thanks!

Sorry I don't have any pics and sold the B44 several months ago. Although I could give a pic of the same heatsink on my B-max4. Setup is quite similar. I'll try to get that to you tonight...:D

I don,t know if you'll be able to see the motor heatsink/ fan on the motor side. It's the only pic I could get hold of rapidly. basically the heatsink is just an AL clip that makes contact with the motor can and has a 4 holes to screw a fan onto. on the B44, I had it places as in this pic (off to the side), so the body would fit. It fit great. I'm sure there are other brands of heatsinks out there, but this one fit the bill nicely...http://www.crazyrcshop.com/portail/w.../yokomo-04.jpgs
