More Speed!

Can anyone make any suggestions on how to get more speed from my Mi2. It has the Losi 1:10th Xcelorin 13.5T Sensored Brushless Combo, and is currently set up with a 21t pinion and 95t Spur.

The ESC is set at 100% and I have increased my controller to 125% which seemed to make an difference, although not much.

Thanks

Lee

Hi Lee

My suggestion would be that its the gear ratio you currently have on it. I just looked at the final drive ratio for the Mi2 and with the gearing you have you get either a ratio of 8.14 or 9.59. Only reason there are 2 ratios is because there was a choice of lay shaft pulleys, 17 or 20 teeth.

I have never used one of the losi systems but with my Novak system I am currently running a ratio of around 6. I know some of the other guys are running similar gearing too.

If you are at racing tonight I can lend you a different pinion to try if you want, so long as you are running 48dp :D

I hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. I will be there tonight so any help you could give would be great.

Although please explain what 48dp means. (still learning i'm afraid, even at my age)

Thanks

I have a losi 6.5t sensored motor speedo combo and i find it lacks the oomph that other 6.5t combos offer so i intend to get a differnt motor and speedo

as you are running a 13.5t you could always gear it differnt or get a 12.5 or 10.5 for more speed

Jon,

Thanks for your help last night. I definitely saw an improvement in performance after swapping out the pinion.

I'm also going to change the spur gear and see if I can continue to improve the overall speed of the car.

No problem Lee, glad it improved it. If your motor is not getting too hot you might be able to increase the pinion a few more teeth.

If you need any more help feel free to ask :D
