Help to clean up Vista

Of the 55.7GB of Vista space- C drive I have only 50.4 mb left.
The data drive has 49.7 Gb left.

How can i free it up? I keep getting error messages.

Thanks:thumbsup:

Uninstall any unwanted programs..(Control Panel...Programs and Features)
Delete any tunes you don't listen to (mp3's, movies, tv shows)

Root of C: Drive, there may be some Service Pack folders, which were kept, during the unpacking stage. They normally have some random folder name (e.g. hwihfnwnwp453tnwk4n3)

Download a copy of treesize, and do a scan on your local drive to see if there are massive files hanging about.

What do you mean by the data drive? I know on my wife's vista laptop, there were two partitions other than C which contained recovery software. I just deleted both partitions when space on C was getting low and gained about 20gb.

ccleaner will clean that up. Download and run that.

A data drive is normally a separate drive which is used just for data and important files. The other, normally "C", drive is used for the operating system, games and less important stuff. The reason of doing this is because if the computer gets a virus it will at the operating making it sometimes unusable but the data drive will be clean and usable.

And as Mark said, delete anything you don't need and any programs. Have you got demo's of programs which have ran out? delete them, etc.

Try and get hold of a copy of Tune-up utilities 2010. It may sound like your downloading another program but it is worth it, it will do all sorts. Defrag your hard drive, "One-Click Maintenance", Clean up your registry all sorts.
