Where do I get a nice one? I don't really want "Motorsave" or similar BS on the bottom of it :woot:

I also just want a nice standard one, no boy racer shit, I can do without been pulled, the car is enough of a magnet without a chav plate :lol:

Go to a signwriter, they should have the stuff to do it or you might just need to provide the blank plates. Im not saying these will be legal though! ;)

Northy, for number plates to be legal they have to have a stamp on them of where they were made

I think if you want it "legal" there isnt much you can do to change it.

Google showplates, i think it is showplates.co.uk. I've used them quite a bit in the past. not legal as there is no maker on the bottom, but i'm sure if you just have a std or honeycombe style you will be fine:thumbsup:

Came quickly and has the BS info on the bottom right of the plate so it's legal. If you use them make sure you select the 'legal' font etc.

Apparently over half of all speeders caught on camera in the south of the country get away scot-free by using false or occluded plates. A basic remote controlled plate switcher costs just 800 Yuan ($115), but more sophisticated gadgets that get the job done in just three seconds cost over twice that amount.

To be legal, they just need the postcode of the business that made them on the bottom centre. Having "pikey plates ltd" or whatever is optional.

Alloy stamped plates at Dubmeister. I know your Brian isn't a german motor, but I still like them personally. They do legal and show plates. ;)

Personally, Ive made my own front "show plates" when I used to go to shows. The Mini had a smaller front one on (legal one is in the boot, officer), I made it from perspex, with the lettering cut in reverse at a vinyl lettering shop, and stuck some white vinyl over that... I also made some small motorbike plates for my mates this way that were mounted on velcro for obvious reasons. ;)

Just go to any main dealer. I got mine done recently at jct600 for £20, front and rear.

best place I've found is car shows. You can get a pair of number plates made to order for less than £15.

They will put anything you want on.

Or Ebay, but they're a bit more expensive.

Best thing is to get some txt on the bottom so to the untrained eye (Normal copper) it looks like a legit place has made them.

+1 for GT grafix - used them several times for plates over the years. My requirements precisely as yours - don't want to advertise 'HALFORDS' or similar in ridiculously large/coloured font in the centre of the plate.

Although the requirement exists for a BS mark and makers details, I've had the same private plate on 3 cars now and never had issues come MOT etc. Two of the cars were registered after the date the legislation was amended - but who's to say the physical plates weren't transferred from your previous car?!

The intention of the legislation (plate makers details, requirement to show V5c etc) was to cut down on fraud from e.g. cloning, but since you can't control what is sold online from abroad it's not really worked apart from cutting down on the industrial estate cowboys - ANPR has been more effective at doing that! Basically if the plate is a 'legal' representation of a genuine reg number on a genuine car, nobody will care.

By the way, there's no set size for a number plate - just text dimensions, spacing between letters/groups/borders, so you can have a smaller plate if it has less characters in any case.

Now that is interesting, my reg is 6 characters and the rear one had been cut down, looks cool imho, so I can do that again :D

GTGrafix have cut a few for me too, wide choice and quick delivery. The first one i drilled for mounting screws cracked the plate though so be careful if you're not just sticking them on...
