Racing in Wet Weather

Just wondering what you guys are going to do it if is wet on friday?

Its forecast to be sunny/cloudy but it could change :/.

Will it still go ahead a planned unless its pouring it down?

thanks :D,
Aran

Hi Aran,

Yes, we'll still race if it's wet, so long as it's not pouring hard. Some of the "fair weather racers" will probably be tucked up indoors by the fire, but there should still be some racing going on. It's off-road after all!

Just make sure you bring some waterproofing with you:

Blu-Tak
Kitchen towels
Insulation tape.

If you haven't raced in the wet before, you'll need to make sure that you plug all speedo/receiver connections with Blu-Tak first. I also then place a piece of folded kitchen towel over them and tape it down. That'll absorb any droplets of water before they get to your electrics.

ill still be down if it does rain, will be fun.

i have plenty of blu-tak, kitchen roll and tape so will probably be okay.

thanks for the heads up

Blue-tak, kithen towel and tape? surely a highly respected member of Team OCD is not suggesting that we "bodge" our waterproofing!

Balloon for the receiver

I do believe that Major Shambles is a master at waterproofing

and full spikes on the back..:thumbsup: its great so see a 2-3 foot spray of water coming out the back of your buggy (NOT SMOKE OR STEAM )

Bag over the car, I have done that before, works surprisingly well. Idea stolen from Steven Pole

blue tak and balloons I find most effective. Buggies are pretty good at keeping the water out of the chassis though. X6 especially good as it has the motor inside to.

For the record, as you may expect, the installation of said Blu-Tak, kitchen towel and tape would be done in such a way as to fit to my OCD principles. So don't worry, the OCD/Shambles balance of the world remains intact, even when it rains.
