Astro turf

Can anyone recommend ways of getting small off cuts of astro turf as i wish to look into getting enough to cover the jumps at my local track before i present my full case to the powers that be.

Many thanks mike

go to your local "major" garden centre and see if they have any offcuts knocking about. Failing that, sports clubs and golf/tennis clubs are often a good source for smaller pieces.

I´d have a question regarding Astro turf too: from the pics i have seen from races in the UK Astro turf looks a bit different to what i have seen here in Austria. Our kind of Astro turf looks a bit more like felt and as i want to cover parts of my track with original Astro turf like on RC Tracks in the UK i would like to know from someone in the UK if there is a special company that produces the Astroturf. Also does anyone know a price for it (per square meter)?
Any help is much appreciated :)

Astro companies will send you only very small samples.

You can buy the various types off the roll, prices normally start at £11 per sq metre, if I remember correctly the price for heavy grade non-fill goes up to about £40 per sq metre... its expensive stuff.

Sports grounds often dispose of their old astro by giving it away for free to anybody who can transport it. Normally the old stuff is sand filled so very heavy indeed!

there was a link on the brca website for a company that will let you take as much as u wanted, but you have to collect and thats normally the issue, as its not light stuff
