Rotor glue what to use?
My old mans Tekin T8 1900KV rotor came ungluded from the magnets last night during a practise session at my local track. Its no longer under warrentee so what should be used to re-glue it? I have sent an email to Tekin tech support to see if they will help out but just incase :D
Thanks |
loose rotor
Hi had this happen to my old novak ss8500 motor tryed a few glue's with not much success .gave up in the end and contacted Novak, They were great told me to send the old one back, they sent me a new one.
great service the motor was 3 years old. any way i have scince used a glue called JB Auto weld, Its a American product that i would assume halfords would sell. if you get no joy from the manufacture slide the rotor down the shaft. grind a small flat on both sides of the shaft that the rotor covers and apply some of this JB auto weld in the flats slide the rotor back over the flats and wait for the glue to set. good luck this is the only glue i would recomend due to its ability to withstand heat etc. Hope this helps, Steve:thumbsup: |
Thanks for the reply Steve,
Ive just had an email back from Rc-monster Mike where I bought it and he uses Loctite 609 to glue them.. But the even better news is Tekin are going to send me a replacment rotor even though its out of warrentee and i can then glue and keep the old one as a spare so great customer service :) |
Dont get too excited they said they'd do the same for me but it ended up being very frustrating as they must have about 8000 emails a day to get though. In the end I was charged for them and it took about 2-3 months...
So I have a brand new spare rotor for the T8 if you want to buy one and have it there next week £35 delivered :) PM me if you are interested |
Na they never charged me for service even on out of warranty items. With them I sorta ignore the whole warranty rules they just do it for free.
But use green thread lock and let it cure 24Hrs before use (until your new one comes in) |
Permatex High Temp sleeve retainer
Let it cure for 24 hours and voila...solid rotor once again. look here |
Ah good link Bohdi, I would use green loctite but doesnt seem to be available here in the UK from a google search (unless anyone can find diffrent?)
May take you up on the offer BRS if nothing turns up in the post! |
I use Loctite 609 on the helicopter to keep the pinion from coming off or slipping I also have some Loctite 680 which is also good for this. It is expensive stuff but does a great job and it resistant to heat.
