New 3700mAh batteries

Assuming that 3700mAh batteries haven't been matched by most companies for a while, would a pack of matched 3700s that have been sat on a model shop shelf for a while possibly show any signs of detereoration if they are used? Is there a chance some of the cells might be useless?

I'm preferring the 3700s to the pack of 4200s I have. They are far more robust.

Thanks.

Elliott.

GP3700s, right?

These cells are not as sensitive as the IB's that a lot of us are using now, but nonetheless they have probably been on the shelf for at least 18 months by now.

They will have self-discharged considerably, possibly beyond salvation. All you can do is charge them gently (under 3A) and equalise between the first few cycles and see what sort of figures you can get off them.

Yup GPs.

Not looking good then.

Volt meter across a cell at a time, and across the pack, quick rough way to find unbalanced pack. May pick up after a cycle or two.

Thanks for your input Mick.

I've checked out the six GP3700 cells I received and the voltage and arbitrary current on one cell is a lot lower than the others.

Is there any way of reviving the cell or is this terminal? Is it a fault with the actual construction of the cell?

Elliott.

Do this with it.
